Autocar Young Driver 2011

Maruti-Suzuki Autocar Young Driver 2011 contest has concluded and Hitesh Duseja from Gwalior beat 30 other finalists from across the country in the final round to walk away with a Maruti Suzuki A-Star for a grand prize. Seen in the main picture is Shashank Srivastava, chief general manager – marketing, Maruti Suzuki, with the contest winner Hitesh Duseja and the keys to his A-Star. The winner also receives a special acknowledgement, becoming the Ambassador for Safe Driving, a much coveted title for young automobile enthusiasts. Sudeep Mishra from Kolkatta and Kashish Malik from New Delhi were the first and second runner-ups respectively. The contest is a nationwide search for India's best young driver talent. The competition tested drivers' knowledge of traffic rules, road safety and their driving skills. The two-month long contest - held in 65 Maruti Driving School (MDS) centres across 36 cities - was open to everyone between age of 18 and 30, with a valid driving license. The Young Driver Contest 2011 contest, which was held in three phases, included an online theory test on traffic rules, awareness of road safety, and knowledge of cars. The sheer number of applications this year has been phenomenal – a clear indicator of the rising awareness levels in India. Vcommindia News
