There are two distinct ways the motorcycle design has evolved. The European way, which the Japanese adopted and the American way, which the Europeans and Japanese adopted. The European/English way was to make compact fast commuters and sports bikes. The whole sports bike design started with Cafe Racers that emulated real race bikes. Putting clip on handlebars, rear set footrests, bigger carbs, higher lift cams and louder pipes on commuter bikes. Except for the Norton International, BSA Gold Star and Vellocette Venom from England and Ducati and Garrelli from Italy I don’t remember any bikes coming factory fitted with these items. They were better known as ‘Clubman’ models. The Japanese entered and changed everything by giving bikes to the public factory fitted with all these goodies, and they have perfected the art to this day. In every manufacturer’s line up there are extreme, what you call today ‘sports bikes’ available off the shelf. Europeans followed suit.Vcommindia News
