The Japanese automobile major Nissan which had been fringe player in Indian automobile market had changed its strategy with the launch of small car Nissan Micra and now both Nissan and its alliance partner Renault have big plans for Indian automobile market. It has been reported that in order to raise volumes in the domestic market, Nissan is working on a new small car in the Rs 2-4 lakh range.
The reports stated that the new small car is likely to compete with the Maruti Alto, the Chevrolet Spark and the Hyundai Santro. The report quoted Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director and CEO, Nissan Motor India as saying “We're seriously studying the launch of a small car below the Micra. We see great opportunity in the small-car segment.” Vcommindia News
