DETROIT (Reuters) – It was expressed that the contract talks between General Motors Co. and the United Auto Workers union have intensified and shifted to consideration of the scope and terms of a profit-sharing deal for some 49,000 workers at the top U.S. automaker, people with knowledge.
The sources mentioned that in a sign of progress, GM CEO Dan Akerson met on Tuesday with UAW President Bob King for over an hour at the union's Detroit headquarters known as Solidarity House.Vice Chairman of GM Steve Girsky and the Vice President of UAW Joe Ashton, who is leading contract negotiations with GM, has also joined the meeting, which came with a little over a week remaining in the current four years with the union on wages and benefits.Vcommindia News
