However, the luxury brand envisages launching the revamped version of the sedan by 2015 according to an insider report. Codenamed as VW631, the sedan is expected to be built based on the modular longitudinal platform (MLP). Now the company plans to launch a hybrid version based on the 2015 revamped model in future.
The outgoing Volkswagen Phaeton is fitted with a powerful V8, V10 or a W12 engine. While lowering the capacity of such powerful engine is not recommended as the present trend in the market lies with the big, powerful and majestic engines. However, the engine is expected to be tuned to enable better performance with respect to mileage. The new Volkswagen Phaeton MK II is likely to be positioned between the Audi A6 and Audi A8 in the luxury segment, in a way avoiding the direct competition with the ace players in the segment, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.Vcommindia News
