Tata Motars which is India’s largest home grown car maker decided to count on the diesel version of its small car Nano, in order to manufacture the best use of its unprecedented achievement that is the world's cheapest vehicle. Tata Motors is likely to showcase the diesel variant of the Nano model during the highly anticipated automotive show, New Delhi Auto Expo that would kick-off from 7th January 2012. Tata Nano Diesel would become a part of the Indian auto industry with the aim of sufficing the buyers through improved economy figures. However, if the company is to be believed, the upcoming Nano variant will have a purchasing cost that would surpass the regular Nano's price. Though specific details regarding the Tata Nano Diesel have not been shared officially by the company, the model is expected to be capable of delivering an average fuel consumption of 32 kmpl to 35 kmpl. Therefore, in terms of fuel economy the diesel variant would have an upper hand, as the petrol model of Nano is able to return a mileage of 25.5 kmpl. Tata Motors has not only worked upon the mileage quotient of the new variant, as the company also plans to assimilate a host of exclusive features. The exciting add-ons include seat cushioning and upholstery that would be offered in vibrant colour combinations, an anti-roll bar, along with enhanced suspension system and power steering that would step-up the handling quotient. Advanced Tata Nano Diesel is likely to possess immense power under the hood, as the small car would be backed by an 800cc, two-cylinder common rail diesel engine. The motor specifications are not yet public but one can expect a maximum power output of 35 hp, along with 110 Nm of peak torque. It is significant to observe that the existing as well as the upcoming model of Nano would share commonality on the grounds of speed, as the diesel version would also probably accelerate to a maximum of 105 kmph. The Nano Diesel is expected to be available within a price range of Rs. 2 lacs to Rs. 3 lacs, which is approximately Rs. 60,000 more than the petrol version. Thus, on the face of it, the diesel version of small car Nano seems to have the ability to click with the Indian customers instantly, as the reasonable price tag and outstanding fuel efficiency make it a consummate option.
