Ford EcoSport the upcoming compact SUV spotted in Brazil

The long awaiting compact Ford EcoSport SUV is spotted yet again and this time in Brazil. But just for a moment though, it gives us a thought which could this be the new Ford Fiesta and not the SUV as imagined. The heavily camouflaged test mule for one and the fact that the Ford EcoSport built on the new Ford Fiesta platform are the two reasons for the state of confusion. However, the high ground clearance and the overall high stance of the spotted car wards off any doubts for that matter, because we don’t find a sedan sitting that high usually.

Speculations aside, now getting down to the brass tracks, it is already known about the diesel engine that will power the Ford EcoSport. It is the same 1.5 L diesel engine from Ford Fiesta that will get under the hood of the Ford EcoSport diesel, but the petrol engine is a big question mark when Ford India is not letting a single slip to get our hands on the details. However, looks like it is going to be a 1.0 L EcoBoost engine overruling the speculations of 1.2 L engine from  before. Coming to the power and torque numbers for the new EcoBoost engine, the 100 Bhp and 200 Nm seems to be the possibility.

Some power packed performance is expected from the compact SUV with the new EcoBoost engine under the hoodalong with some promising fuel efficiency.  As for the Ford EcoSport price, ideally, the auto major has to come up with something in the range of Rs 7 lakh between Ford Fiesta Classic and the base variant of the Ford Fiesta for the sake of competition, which again reminds us of the Ford Fiesta AT. Until now, Ford Fiesta AT is expected to be brought for a launch at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo alongside the Ford EcoSport, but it remains to be seen if there are any last minute change of plans.
