The launch of EcoSport SUV on 4th January announced by Ford might announce

It seems now that Ford is planning with something unique this time to mark its breakthrough in compact SUVs. Before the Auto Expo commences on the 4th of January the company would be making a global announcement. Speculations are rife that the American auto giant may reveal its compact SUV EcoSprot. Here are a couple of facts we have for sure. Ford EcoSport will carry the first EcoBoost engine from Ford for its India line-up.It is the first SUV from the auto major to take the compact form. The Ford EcoSport SUV is built on the same platform of Ford Fiesta. Quite automatically, we may as well assume that the same tried and tested 90 Bhp 1.5 L diesel engine will make into the compact SUV.

The car consists of a 1.0 L or 1.2 L Ecoboost petrol engine will power the Ford Ecosport to generate some extraordinary power and torque numbers. Coming to the Ford Ecosport price, Ford India could most probably look at somewhere around Rs 7-9 lakhs placing it well between the Ford Fiesta and its upcoming automatic variant. Sub-four meter in length and Ford Fiesta platform are enough to understand that the compact SUV will inarguably be stringent in terms of interior space. All the same, the accommodation will be enough to carry five passengers comfortably. Based on the situation, Ford EcoSport has enough time for a take-off as its going to be a while before it sees a rival in the segment.

Renault Duster compact SUV followed by the Nissan’s version of the same is not expected until mid to late end of 2012. Basically, year 2012 will not only be just the beginning of the compact SUV trend in India, but will also get heated up within the same year. Maruti India too, on the other hand has a new concept SUV to be displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo probably slated for a year end launch as well. Coming back to where we began, it is interesting to see what the auto major has in store for the Ford EcoSport India launch. Could it be like the auto major hopes to make an announcement beforehand, guage the consumer response and then launch their reason of pride at the 2012 Auto Expo in front of the masses? Well, there can be ample lot of speculations regarding this.

    Its a sub-4 meter sedan which makes it duty-free and affordable according to the Indian customers.Its close rivals are Renault Duster and Xuv500.
