New production methods for lighter vehicles considered by Honda

Regarding the technology of lighter vehicles Honda Motors is one of the car manufacturers to come up with it. If Honda Motors manages to get through with its plans successfully, we might as well see the new Honda cars around 10% lighter. Here is how the Honda intends to incorporate its new methods in their upcoming vehicles for reduced weight. Generally, the cars are assembled by means of bolts and other materials that act as a lever between the ceiling, and the side door panels to bring about the skeleton of the car.

This is where Honda Motors intends to try something different to reduce the usage of the bolts and other materials to bring down the overall weight of the cars substantially. Honda Motors thinks that the cars can as well be developed using the welding method to join the ceiling with the side panels of the car. This is one thing Honda Motor wants to try with their recently launched Honda N Box mini vehicle.

The vehicle which is produced in two production lines, Honda Motors hopes to carry the innovative method of production in one among those two. The Japanese car manufacturer believes strongly to see atleast 10% reduction in the weight of the N Box when developed using the new production method. Just imagine new Honda lightweight line-up in India as well which accounts for better mileage going forward. Coming to the domestic scenario, Honda India has new Honda Civic and 2012 Honda CR-V slated for a launch in 2012.
