NS4 plug-in concept to debut in Detroit by Toyota, Prius C to join it

DETROIT – With its latest technology of plug-in-hybrid concept called NS4 Toyota will participate in the Detroit auto show. It will be the world premiere of the car, but no other details were immediately available.

Meanwhile, the Prius C will make its U.S. debut. It's positioned as an entry-level model in the Prius family, joining the third-generation liftback, the Prius V midsize vehicle and a plug-in model.

Pricing for the Prius C hasn't been announced yet, but the car will begin arriving in dealerships in spring 2012. The Prius C will use Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive with a 1.5-liter engine to return better than 50 mpg in the city.

Standard features include Bluetooth connectivity, steering-wheel audio controls and nine airbags. Toyota's Entune system will be optional. Entune uses the driver's smartphone to provide access to navigation, entertainment and information. It also allows users to connect with search engine Bing, the restaurant guide OpenTable.
