NEW DELHI: Before 2014 Hero MotoCorp is mulling to unveil its own series of two-wheelers without the help of former partner Honda Motor Corporation.

The promoters of Hero, the Munjals, have got an agreement for sourcing technology and two-wheeler models from Honda till 2014. 45% market share of the two-wheeler market is enjoyed by Hero MotoCorp and its competitor Honda got 13.8% market share. The automobile manufacturers had inked collaboration with technology providers internationally and started work on the firm's first product to be developed mainly at its own research and development centre.

Mr Anil Dua, Senior Vice President (marketing and sales), Hero MotoCorp, said, “We had been scouting for several potential partners globally and have now started work with some of them. There are collaborations in progress. The local R&D team has an interface with the market here. We will put the concept together for all future products and then source the technology required from experts globally for developing synergistic output.”

Hero’s local research and development (R&D) team has been directed to evaluate consumer needs in the domestic market, technical collaborations have been forged with global companies to source expertise in specific areas.

The firm has finished extensive market surveys and initiated modifications of products for unveiling in foreign markets in the year 2012. Hero has identified 30 nations to strengthen its global business.Hero MotoCorp
