After a lull, the vehicle recall ghost has snared up its head again in the US. Now it has been reported that the South Korean car maker Kia Motors, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Co is reported to be recalling 145,755 Optima sedans and Rondo crossover vehicles in the United States because of potentially faulty driver airbags.
As the reports mentioned that the model years affected are 2006-2008 Optimas and 2007-2008 Rondos, stated Kia Motors America. Kia Motors America, a unit of Kia Motors Corp, said it is unaware of any sort of injuries or airbags not deploying because of the issue. Affected are 95,569 Optimas and 50,186 Rondos.
It was mentioned that Kia stated that the clock spring contact assembly the air bag to the side of the driver supplemental restraint system may become damaged over time, potentially it cause the driver's air bag not to deploy. The recall is expected to begin in March, Kia said.
