At 2012 Auto Expo Maserati's award-winning Quattroporte showcased

It was surprising to see car enthusiasts flock like sheep in the Hall of Shreyans, just to catch a glimpse of some of the finest cars on sale in India, that and a very special street naked Italian manufacturer Ducati bicycles, which was officially launched at the Auto Expo in the country.

But high-end sports and luxury car enthusiasts familiar with the Ferrari, Porsche and BMW "in the world, to see two great Trident badged cars, ie, the Maserati Quattroporte and the GranCabrio convertible top was definitely a breath of fresh air.

While the 4.7-litre V8 engined Quattroporte S is very quick, the four-door range is headlined by the flagship sports sedan, the Quattroporte Sport GT S. Priced at Rs. 1.2 crore (ex-showroom) the latter boasts a massive 446.11PS of power @ 7000rpm, but retains the Quattroporte S’s 490Nm of torque.

Convertibles never looked this good until the birth of the Maserati GranCabrio, which probably had a majority of the crowds gathered run out of camera battery just capturing the elegant convertibles profile in every frame and every angle possible. A naturally aspirated engine on the Maserati GranCabrio produces 456.25PS of power supported by a 510Nm thick torque curve.

The top speed of the GranCabrio Sport is 285 km/h and the 0-100 km/h sprint is now reduced to just 5.2 seconds. To the beginning the price of Rs. 1.43 crore (ex-showroom) the super-fast MC Auto Shift software on the convertible been developed for the GranCabrio Sport directly from the transmission in the Quattroporte Sport GT S.
