Maruti Suzuki next month to launch new Swift DZire

NEW DELHI: A compact version of Swift DZire next month will be launched by Maruti Suzuki, heating up competition in the entry-level sedan segment in the world's second-fastest growing car market. The new car, which will be rolled out of the company's Manesar plant, will compete with Toyota's Etios, Hyundai's Accent and Mahindra's Verito. 

Although its sub-4m size will qualify it for lower excise duty of 10%, a top Maruti official said the souped-up model is unlikely to be cheaper as compared to present day DZire, which is taxed at 22% and costs between 4.94 lakh and 7.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
