Vauxhall ‘Mokka’ the latest product

Vauxhall-mokka
According to information gleaned from *cough* a reliable source, coffee is the second most used product in the world after oil, is worth €30 billion a year to the producing countries, and is consumed at the rate of 1400 million cups a day.

None of which relate to the new Vauxhall Mokka, revealed for the first time today. And now, we give you a moment to get the obligatory coffee-related puns out of your system.

Good. Measuring in at a shade under the length of a Nissan Qashqai, it is Vaux's warrior in the sub-compact SUV B segment. As you can see, the seating position is nice and high, and Vauxhall has poured in lots of creamy, aromatic, sugary technology. Ahem.

You get the choice of two wheel or all wheel drive, the latter of which sounds like a front wheel drive setup that transfers power to the rear wheels "when handling and traction are put to the test". There's an array of acronyms, including electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TC), hill start assist (HAS) and hill descent control (HDC).

Engine wise, there's a 115bhp 1.6-litre four-pot petrol, the 137bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol (with a handy 201Nm of torque), and Vauxhall's 1.7-litre diesel, producing 127bhp and 221 torques.

Says Vauxhall MD Duncan Aldred: "The Mokka takes its design cues from larger SUVs and integrates them into a compact, yet modern form". Not quite as pretty as Vauxhall's recent efforts - step forward, Astra GTC - but not bad, either.
