Is Lamborghini SUV in the pipeline?

It has been cause for speculation for quite some time now and it seems that all those rumours could in fact have some truth to them – Lamborghini could in fact be on the verge of yet another shocker as it ponders on a worthy successor to the LM002. While the LM002 was a hardcore, no-holds-barred off-roader earning itself the ‘Rambo Lambo’ tag, the press has been speculating a comeback of the off-road sorts for the Raging Bull brand for years. Considering the route that almost every other sports car manufacturer that has made an SUV has taken though, it could eventually end up being a city-slicker after all. And there’s really nothing wrong with that either. The Porsche Cayenne, BMW X6 and the Maserati Kubang are all mean looking SUVs that have been borne out of just one purpose – to instill terror in the minds of urban folk when they see them growing in their rear view mirrors, and Lamborghini’s brute shouldn’t be any different.

For the past year or so, Lamborghini has been causing quite a stir with the Aventador and the Sesto Elemento, not to mention the Estoque and come April the men from Sant’Agata Bolognese might just have another surprise to spring. It’s not really as unimaginable as some might think that a Lamborghini SUV is on its way though – their foundations for the project seem pretty much set. With the Estoque, Lamborghini already has a body style that it could base its LM002 successor on – there’s just a playing around with the proportions that is required. In fact, come to think of it, a slightly raised up Estoque with some off-roader bits would make for quite a stunning vehicle too.

 And courtesy the Italian exotic-maker’s foster home at Audi and consequentially at Volkswagen could give them all they need in terms of the platform that the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and the VW Touareg are based on. Expect a better design interpretation of the classic Lamborghini form though, and who knows you could even get to see the Gallardo’s 5.2 litre V10 under the hood! We’re keeping our fingers crossed because if there is any truth to the rumours (and those are pretty strong ones indeed) and going by the fact that officials up in the Volkswagen Group are neither accepting nor outright denying the possibility of the next-gen Rambo Lambo soon, we sure would love to see what’s coming our way!
