Mini reveals new Clubvan concept

BMW has boarded up a Clubman's rear windows, and then got a man called Hugh to draw on it.

It's called the Clubvan, it has no rear seats, the rear windows have been replaced with polycarbonate panels, there's a 12V charging socket in the back, and there's a stainless load bay partition to protect the driver.

At the Geneva motor show it would be as an exemplar of the breed, has also been daubed on by a signwriter called Hugh Buckingham from Southport.

It's the latest - and most, err, undemanding - rework of the Mini idiom (which has included Roadster, Coupe, Clubman and Countryman thus far). BMW describes it as "a compact lifestyle van for business and leisure - the first concept of its kind in the premium segment."

The Clubvan, which lands five years after the original Clubman went on sale, is expected to arrive on forecourts later this year, though there's no official date from the Germans yet.

Coincidentally, BMW's Oxford-based factory will begin retooling for the all-new Mini where the current-shape Mini will remain in production until at least 2015.

This got us thinking... Seeing as BMW's obviously now running out of ideas for new models, why don't you help us build a TG edition?
