DETROIT -- Honda Motor Co. is recalling about 8,700 copies of the 2012 Honda Pilot and Acura MDX SUVs to fix a problem in the fuel tank.
With the vent-shut-float valve case the flaw is in the fuel-tank assembly. As per Honda the part doesn't meet the proper design specifications, which could result in a fuel leak and possibly a fire.
Honda will notify dealers and owners of affected vehicles. Dealers will inspect the assembly and replace it if necessary. The recall is expected to begin on March 13.
Meanwhile, Honda said on Wednesday that it will recall about 45,800 Odyssey minivans from the 2008 and 2009 model years to replace the power-tailgate struts.
Honda says the gas-filled struts that support the tailgate are prone to early failure. This could lead to the tailgate closing unexpectedly.
