While the car sales in India have been on a sharp decrease, exports from India on the other hand have increased by 22.39 percent in April-August period for this fiscal 2011-12 in comparison to the same period in 2010-11.
As per the data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), passenger car exports for the April-August period in 2011-12 stood at 2,17,409 units in comparison to 1,77,634 units for the same period in 2010-11. The growth in exports is attributed primarily to the good volumes clocked in by the new player Nissan. Ford India too managed to boost its overseas shipment by over three-folds.Nissan Motor India, whose Micra hatchback is sold mainly in Europe, exported 42,540 units during this period. Nissan Motor India had not begun to export their car in the same period last year. Ford India exported 10,118 units of Ford Figo during 2011-12 from April to August compared with sales of 3,168 units in 2010 to 11 in the same period.Vcommindia News
