Ferrari has updated its California convertible for 2012 and the refreshed model will take its first public bow at the upcoming 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
The key changes are made to the power and weight. The automaker has stripped the California down by almost 33kg via improved chassis fabrication techniques and construction technologies.
The out-going model produced 454PS of max power and 357Nm of max torque and these numbers have been increased by 36 and 15 respectively, which translate to 490PS of max power and 372Nm of max torque. The increase in power in California's 4.3-litre V8 engine comes from the redesigned exhaust manifolds and new software for the engine computer. It is worth noting that not only the torque is up, but the curve has been modifies for more power at all rpms.
With the raising of power and weight reduction will enable the Ferrari California to hit the 0 to 100kmph mark in 3.8 seconds. The outgoing model achieved this in 3.5 seconds.
In addition, Ferrari will also introduce a Handling Speciale Package that includes variable dampers, stiffer springs and steering which is 10 per cent quicker than the standard California's.
