Pulsar220 recalled by Bajaj Auto to fix faulty part

Bajaj-pulsar-220
NEW DELHI: Flagship Pulsar 220cc DTS-i motorcycle is recalled by Bajaj Auto to fix a faulty part that could lead to starting problems. The company's dealers said a problem with the starter relay on the Pulsar 220 had prompted Bajaj Auto to go in for the part replacement.

However, not all the Pulsar 220 units would be covered by the recall and the company is undertaking the exercise only for a select number of units that are believed to be carrying the potentially faulty part.

When contacted, Bajaj Auto's two-wheeler unit president K Srinivas said, "At Bajaj Auto, quality improvement is an ongoing process as we recognize that no product, however good, is ever perfect. Towards this purpose we continuously monitor the in-use quality of our products well beyond their two-year warranty period... Recently, a non-conformance in the starter motor relays of some of our motorcycles has come to our notice."

He said dealers had been informed and they would now carry out the replacement. Srinivas did not give details on the number of Pulsar 220 units affected and whether the problem was also noticed on other models of the company. Bajaj's dealers are in touch with customers and have even sent them SMSs.

Officials at the workshops said that the part will be changed free of cost and the process will take around 15-20 minutes.
