According to the company the domestic sales last month were the second highest in its history after 1, 10,424 units that was registered in March 2011. Similarly, MSI's exports increased 11.82 per cent to 11,296 units in February from 10,102 units in the year-ago period, the company added. Total passenger car sales in the domestic market went up by 7.13 per cent to 94,118 units last month from 87,851 units in the same month of 2011.
However, sales of the company's mini-segment cars, including the M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, fell by 8.24 per cent to 49,104 units from 53,515 units in February, 2011. In the compact segment (comprising the Estilo, Swift and Ritz models), MSI witnessed a 31.06 per cent up in sales to 27,899 units from 21,287 units in the same month a year ago. Whereas the sales of MSI's Dzire model increased by 58.78 per cent to 15,068 units to 9,490 units a year ago. In addition, MSI's mid-sized sedan SX4's sales slipped by 42.47 per cent to 2,033 units from 3,534 units in the year-ago month. Luxury sedan Kizashi witnessed 44 per cent fall in sales at 14 units as against 25 units in the same month last year, according to the report.Automobile News
